It is with great pleasure that I recommend Teana Sterr as a childcare provider and/or babysitter. She is a delightful young woman who has cared for my two children (ages 4 and 7) over the last two years.

Teana is not your usual sitter. My children do not endlessly sit for hours in front of the television while in her care. She goes to extra effort to bring books that both of my kids would enjoy. On one occasion, she made “play-doh” for my children; she has taken them to play at nearby parks and for rides on their bikes. They have even gone to the Seattle Aquarium and to the Kid’s Quest Museum in Bellevue which was not only fun for the kids, but served as great educational experiences as well.

Miss Sterr always came to my home on time, cheerful and ready to engage the children. She is intelligent, kind and a great listener. My kids love Teana, and look forward to spending time with her. That said, she always followed my directions with regard to the children (bedtimes, food, etc.) and they respect her as an authority figure. I will continue to engage her services as needed.

I have found her unselfish and diligent care of my children a true blessing and confidently recommend her to you as a child care provider and/or sitter.

I am very pleased to be able to provide a letter of recommendation for Teana Sterr. She has been a very reliable, stable and competent childcare provider. My husband and I hired Teana from Craigslist for our children, girls ages one and three. She worked for us from March, 2010 until September, 2010 on a part-time basis, and only left us because she needed to find full-time work with a single employer.

Not having hired a nanny before, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I proceeded by calling all her references including her mother to see what others had to say. Her mother said she was terrific … as did all the rest! I also performed a background check and then scheduled a meeting with her at our home. Since all her references were glowing and she didn’t have a criminal record, I felt that my impression of her at our first meeting would also be very important.

During her first visit, she seemed so at ease with my children. Though I didn’t spend much time with her, it seemed clear that she possessed a high level of skill and patience with children. Since then I have observed Teana’s approach to learning and discipline and have been very impressed with how she handles the kids and communicates with us about their day to day activities. For example, when I come home in the evening she typically has a note listing any issues or things she wants to tell us about, and then we usually have a conversation about it. I’ve picked up more tips from those conversations than any book I’ve read about child development!

Teana created an active learning environment for my children, with walks to the park and trips to the library. At such a young age our kids participated in and completed a read-a-thon while in her care. We left her our car and she would drive the kids to various activities. We always felt perfectly at ease with her and so did the children. We will miss having her with us every week, though we will still hire her for weekend babysitting and the occasional house sitting stint.

This letter is my personal recommendation for Teana Sterr. I hired Teana to be my daughter’s Nanny from October 2009 until August 2010. I have found her to be an excellent and efficient employee who always comes to work with dedication and a positive attitude. My daughter always looked forward to seeing Teana twice a week. There was never a day when she didn’t have a smile on her face when told that Teana is coming!

With my ability to work from home, I was able to see Teana’s work first hand. She was able to jump right in from day 1, fulfilling tasks from playing, feeding, changing diapers and putting the baby to sleep.

She was very flexible and accepting of my parenting skills. She was able to follow my guidelines to help sleep train my baby (at the time 7 months old), start early potty training and even speaking to my daughter exclusively in French.

With little guidance, Teana is resourceful in helping with a child’s development. She would notice any progress with my daughter and find ways to encourage her during play time (for example, putting her favorite toys at a slight distance to encourage more crawling) and would bring French books from the library for story time.

Given that this is my first baby, it was very important to me to find a Nanny who my daughter likes and trusts. I was quickly able to accept and trust Teana with my baby and in my home. My daughter’s relationship with her is most definitely special and full of positive energy.

I like how Teana was able to keep a calm demeanor no matter how bad of a day my daughter had. A calm Nanny is able to soothe a baby very fast. I also appreciated that she came to me with any questions or concerns related to my child.

More recently, my daughter entered toddlerhood and enjoys being taken to the park or a walk around the neighborhood. She absolutely loved going out with Teana.

Though I am saddened to see Teana move on, I must highly recommend her as a Nanny. Your child(ren) will grow to love her!

To Whom It May Concern:

This is a letter of recommendation for Teana Sterr. She has worked for our family (2 1/2 year old girl and 10 month old boy) for over a year. Teana is always prompt, is very responsible, and extremely loving. She has been willing to learn some sign language to help with our daughter, who has a speech delay. She has also learned along with us about epilepsy, since both our children have it.

Teana is a master at communication. She writes down the children’s schedules, details we need to know, or questions to ask us. I love her suggestions because they are always wise. She is not one to ask for time off chronically and she never needs to be reminded of directions we give to her about the kids. She is not one to call in sick unless she is really sick. That is not often at all.

She is so unbelievably nurturing. She does projects, reads books, sings songs and helps to keep our kids well rounded. She has a keen intuition and a heard of gold, which is such a gift. We have never had any fears about leaving our children, even over night. That is huge since our children have special needs and we have trust issues. We consider ourselves the luckiest people on earth to have someone we trust more than anyone else.

The evidence of the amazing job she does is through our children’s bond with her. They absolutely adore her, and rightfully so. Our kids get so excited when Teana comes through the door. She is a caring and humble person who is truly passionate about her job.
